Explore our pop-up, connect with the community, and join us at 6:00 PM for an inspiring artist talk with filmmaker Sandulela Asanda. Learn about their work and their story in an inspiring interview by Celia Parbey.

Alongside Berlinale, this conversation offers an opportunity to engage with one of the most emerging voices in contemporary cinema. Originally from the Eastern Cape and currently based in Cape Town, Sandulela Asanda is an award winning filmmaker whose work has been presented at international festivals including Toronto International Film Festival and the Berlinale.Following the success of her short film Mirror Mirror, which premiered at TIFF and was later screened in the Generation section of the Berlinale, Sandulela now presents her feature film debut Black Burns Fast at Berlinale 2026.

The talk will be hosted by Celia Parbey, journalist and host, who studied African Studies and works as an editor at DIE ZEIT, while also contributing to various online and print publications. She is the CEO of RosaMAG, an online lifestyle magazine for Black FLINTA* people in German-speaking countries. Her work centers on colonial continuities, intersectionality, feminism, and racism.

We are especially excited to realize this event in media partnership with RosaMAG, creating an extended platform for dialogue, representation, and visibility.
PLATTE welcomes you to this conversation as we open the program and create space for dialogue, exchange, and visibility.
